BIG 10 - NorthwesternC/OF Geoff RowanCLICK HERE - BIOWe have a catcher/outfielder that we need to place. Had a place but they ended up bringing in 3 other catchers to share time and we need him to get more time behind the plate then this will allow. He is our backup catcher, but will get plenty of time in the outfield this spring. Our starting catcher is a senior who is going to get drafted, (could have signed last summer but wanted to finish school first).Geoff is a hard working, polite and courteous young man, that would be a pleasure to have on a team. He can even throw off the mound if a team got in a pinch. If you could find a place that is looking for someone like this he is willing to play anywhere. He played in the Hawaian Summer League last summer.

Central Michigan ProspectsBrock Guetzke 6-4 200 RFr 1B/OF/LHPRedshirted last year because he just wasn’t ready to be a two way guy. Had a productive summer for Laramie in Mountain Collegiate League hitting over .280. Has a lot of power, should hit a lot of home runs once he gets a little more loft to his swing-now just hammers low backspin missles to the gap. Struggled on the mound-he still does not repeat his delivery well. 84-86 with good sink, slider is average plus-kills LHH, no feel for a change right now but just doesn’t keep ball down well enough yet. Has a chance to be very good both ways-but also has a lot of work to do.
Matt Loomis 6-6 202 So LHPQuintessential left on left guy. 80-82 from way across his body, changes arm angles, has sink the lower his slot goes, touches 86 occasionally but has yet to maintain that velo, incredibly deceptive. Waterloo of the Northwoods picked him up for the second half of last summer and he did a nice job out there. Great bullpen guy.
Brenden Emmett 5-10 165 Jr 2B/3B LHHWasted year last year after having Tommy John late in 2008. Limited to DH duties last year after starting at 2B as freshman in 2008. 6.9 runner who will be an average defender. Will hit for a high average-gap power. Very patient hitter-takes a ton of walks-ideal 1 or 2 hitter.
Joey Henry 5-9 170 So C RHHConverted outfielder with a plus arm. Footwork continues to improve and is improving as a receiver. Will never be a huge offensive force but can be a very good ctach and throw guy. Perfect backup.
Rod Helsen 5-11 175 Jr OF LHH6.65 runner, excellent defensive OF, can play all 3 spots and has above average accurate arm with good carry. Good 1, 2, 8, 9 hitter-good small game player.
